Biddeford Pool, Maine

Painting and Poetry Retreat at the Marie Joseph Spiritual Center
PictureMarie Joseph Spiritual Center
I enjoyed 6 years of painting with friends at Biddeford Pool.  The Retreat Center closed.  The building was demolished. Thankfully, the land was purchased by a local land trust.  Hopefully, the swallows will still come and find their nesting boxes ready.  Check on line for old photos of the building which had many lives since the early 1900's.

Spring Birches by the Sea, 10x10, oil
       I don't think I'll miss the sea.
I've given my heart to the soft hills; red pine, white pine and hemlock.
A gentle lake murmur will do.

But and still, to be along the shore for a time.
Wave sound, Colors, all shades of blue/grey and tan.
White surf and green spill,
Sharp tang.
Liquid mirror on rippled sand.

A lone figure: dark spot in the distance.
Impossible clouds, moving en-masse toward me,
Blotting out the yellow skyline.
Spitting drops of rain.

A Malicoat painting.  (His colors.)
