Spring  2018
Biddeford Pool, Maine

Painting and Poetry Retreat at the Marie Joseph Spiritual Center
This is the fourth year I've gone to Biddeford Pool, to walk among the sea splashed coastal rocks of Maine, joining 20 artists/writers on a creative retreat.  Four of us came from Cape Cod, most came from the Worchester, Princeton, Central Mass. area.  We enjoyed meals together, painted alone or in groups and met in the evenings for "show and tell", conversation and sharing of our written thoughts.

       I don't think I'll miss the sea.
I've given my heart to the soft hills; red pine, white pine and hemlock.
A gentle lake murmur will do.

But and still, to be along the shore for a time.
Wave sound, Colors, all shades of blue/grey and tan.
White surf and green spill,
Sharp tang.
Liquid mirror on rippled sand.

A lone figure: dark spot in the distance.
Impossible clouds, moving en-masse toward me,
Blotting out the yellow skyline.
Spitting drops of rain.

A Malicoat painting.  (His colors.)
